CYBERATTACK SHUTS DOWN WORLD’S LARGEST MEAT SUPPLIER

JBS USA, the world’s largest meat supplier, has confirmed it was the target of an organized cybersecurity attack.  The company says its operations in North America and Australia have been impacted and some transactions with customers and suppliers may be delayed.  It is unknown at this time how the consumer supply chain will be affected.

In a statement, JBS said on Sunday, May 30th servers supporting its North American and Australian IT systems were the target of a cyber attack.  The company says their backup servers were not affected and they are not aware of any evidence that customer, supplier, or employee data was compromised or misused because of the attack.

JBS says it took immediate action and suspended all affected systems and notified authorities.  The company also activated the company’s global network of IT professionals and third-party experts are also involved to resolve the situation.

JBS is a leading processor of beef, pork, and chicken.

This is sure to negatively impact the already skyrocketing meat prices we are experiencing in North America.
